A new community based initiative is helping people across Devon rehome items they no longer need. Tuesday Tables encourages people to pass on items they no longer use so they can be given another life! This initiative is empowering communities in Devon to prevent waste, encourage the reuse and repurposing of items and shift towards a culture of sharing and more sustainable consumption.
As a local authority you can encourage your residents to take part by scheduling dates for a Tuesday Table to take place. Read below for more information.
What is Tuesday Tables?
Tuesday Tables is basically a community swap! On a given Tuesday, residents put items they no longer want outside their house for others to pick up for free. People are encouraged to pick items up when out for their daily walk, as has become common during lockdowns.
Items can include all sorts of things: furniture, clothing, books, household items or children’s toys. We would advise that no item should be dirty or broken or dangerous.
