Significant decline in air pollution and cool, sunny weather sees the UK solar generation hit an all-time high of 9.69GW of electricity on Monday 20th April!
Cool, sunny weather and the low air pollution levels caused by the coronavirus lockdown have helped drive a new all-time solar power record in the UK, with solar farms generating a peak of 9.69GW of electricity for the grid on 20th April according to Business Green.
This news came days before the news that Britain had broken the record number of days of coal-free power generation. At the time of writing, coal- fired plants had not contributed to the electricity grid for 20 days and 10 hours.
