Thematic hearings

Thematic hearings (meetings) were used as part of the evidence gathering about the steps that can be taken to achieve net-zero carbon in Devon.  These hearings ran during November and December 2019.  Each hearing focused on different parts of our society that produce most of the emissions.

The following hearings were available to watch live on the Devon Climate Emergency Facebook page.

World scientists’ warning of a climate emergency

Scientists have a moral obligation to clearly warn humanity of any catastrophic threat and to “tell it like it is.” On the basis of this obligation and the graphical indicators presented below, we declare, with more than 11,000 scientist signatories from around the world, clearly and unequivocally that planet Earth is facing a climate emergency.

Devon Carbon Plan process is launched – residents called on to give their ideas

A top team of environmental experts, charged with ensuring that Devon reduces carbon emissions as quickly as possible, is calling on residents to submit their ideas on how to do it.

The Net-Zero Task Force has been appointed by the Devon Climate Emergency Response Group – made up of Devon’s councils, emergency services and business groups – to deliver the Devon Carbon Plan.
